SugarSnap AI (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle information when you use the SugarSnap AI mobile app.

1. Information processed

• Food photos: When you choose to analyse a food photo, the image is sent securely to our Cloudflare service and then to OpenAI’s API to identify likely foods.
• Barcode and food-search information: When you scan a barcode or search for food, we send the barcode or food name to Open Food Facts and/or USDA FoodData Central to provide nutrition information.
• Support information: If you contact us by email, we receive the information you include in your message.

2. How we use information

We use food photos, barcodes, and food names solely to provide food recognition and nutrition estimates, including sugar, salt, and ultra-processed food information. We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.

3. Storage and retention

SugarSnap AI does not intentionally store your food photos in its own database. Images are sent only to provide the recognition result.

OpenAI processes food photos through its API. OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models unless the customer opts in; it may retain API content for up to 30 days for safety and abuse monitoring, or where legally required. Learn about OpenAI API data controls.

4. Third-party services

We use the following services to operate SugarSnap AI:

• Cloudflare — securely routes food-recognition requests.
• OpenAI — identifies foods in submitted photos.
• Open Food Facts — provides product and barcode information.
• USDA FoodData Central — provides nutrition data.

These providers process information under their own privacy policies.

5. Children’s privacy

SugarSnap AI is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
